Focus on Business: Lucky Three Barber Shop – “This isn’t your cliché salon”

Example
Lucky Three Barber shop is a full service salon catering to men and women. Opened September 30, 2010, this salon is independently owned and operated by Arbutus natives Micah and Valerie Stanovich. Their business name is a reference to the jersey number Micah and his father shared as competitive athletes in school.  In 2000, while at Landsdowne High, Micah was named Athlete of the Year by the Arbutus Times for his prowess in football, basketball, and lacrosse.

Lucky Three offers every service from Cuts to Hot Beard & Head shaves, Color treatment and Relaxers, Styling and Perms, as well as special occasion hair.  They are soon to be a Focus Salon for Paul Mitchell and will offer all their available products including their organic Awapuhi products.

They also practice in-shop recycling even though Baltimore County doesn’t promote commercial recycling.

The two also own a beauty supply and maintenance company servicing beauty salons, pet stores, and grooming companies with services including mobile sheer sharpening.

Business has been good.  While I was interviewing the two, their phone was ringing off the hook.  They have six total employees all from the Paradise/Catonsville area, and encourage all of theirs artists to further their education and will fund half of their tuition to do so.

They were able to bring a lot of loyal clients from their previous work, Bubbles Salon, where the two met.  They have had great support from the community. So great in fact they are also looking into expanding by adding more chairs, shampoo bowls, and dryers in attempt to attract new artists, as well as add more space for their customers to relax. They cater to every age group, and “want our clients to feel comfortable and at home.”

The aim is to make their shop unlike your cliché salon. They don’t want customers to feel rushed. They offer free drinks and will even order customers lunch. With the expansion, they will have a back patio for summer relaxing with a cocktail, and maybe even a horseshoe pit.

“Paradise has a lot of potential”: Lucky 3 hopes to be a part of a core group of local businesses that will help transform our small town center into a unique and eclectic business district.  Together with other small businesses here, they want to be a successful partner in this small community.

They offer a 10% discount to Police officers & Firemen. They also run a discount-referral service. Lucky Three is a proud member of the PCA.  With great support from Paradise residents and Local Businesses, we can help improve this new business and our community at large. They are planning a grand opening celebration in the near future, so please keep your eyes and ears peeled for the info.  Find them online at www.lucky3barber.com as well as on Facebook, and Google.
